Thanks all for the input. I suspect the bars will remain untaped for a few weeks until I get the stem dialed in a bit. I suspect a shorter stem is in my future. More to come as I inspect & adapt.
I am looking forward to trying the Albastache bars--this is my first experience with "upright" bars on one of my bikes as I am making my Sam into my dedicated gravel/trail/offroad bike.
