I will just add that you could use good center pull brakes as well - Paul's, Dia Compe GC700(?), others? I do have R559's on a 650B conversion (with Kool Stop pads) and have been ok with those (and absolutely love the bike!) but I will be using Paul's and Kool Stop's on my AHH. I don't expect any problems but I don't have any data to back that up. My take is that the longer the reach, the better the quality of the brake should be, that translating to build quality, strength of the materials and design, etc.
