I have the fender mounted with the usual drop bolt that hangs from the
brake bolt. I probably could cut 5 or 6 mm off the bottom of the bolt
and improve tire clearance, but since I only run 28s (right now I have
28 pasella that measure a bit over 25) I haven't bothered.

Single pivot brakes, like the Campy Grand Sports ( which were the long
reach version of NR) offer better clearance than dual pivot. The dual
pivot brakes pivot below the bolt, so they crowd a fender more. Lots
of people use the Shimano's with these fenders and they do work, and
probably have a lighter feel. I went with the Campy brakes because I
already owned them, and a sentimental attachment - they had been on my
Trek Touring bike for 20 years!

My ram is 6 or 7 years old now and I'm probably going to do some
reconfiguring & renewing this year, to differentiate it more from my
Ebisu AllPurpose. I plan to buy the new Paul's Standard Reach Center
pulls, and I picked up a good pair of White VBC cranks. It's ready
for new tape and thought about a different color but really like that
silver, imitation leather so will probably rewrap with that. Maybe
I'll shellac it this time.

Off topic - first ride of the year today without a jacket. It's 50
degrees and sunny in Vt.
