I live in Berkeley, so we have the same climate. I have three bikes, and all of them are fendered year-long. I rode the shasta super century on my fendered ebisu (650b), and drew many double-takes. It did rain slightly that morning, but I keep it on not completely for rain or wet weather, but to keep my bike clean. I also like the look fendered bikes.
