Eric: Believe you are thinking of the grey Campy Euclids, which appeared to be designed for a low budget MotoCross, not a bicycle. Campy made amends for this travesty for one year when it made a very lovely mtb lever. I have a set. The base is a nice metal black. The levers are a very wonderful polished aluminum. They work very well. I agree the Dia Compe levers are very good and well worth a shot if available.
