As a long time Mac user, the Mac Mail has had “interesting” behaviors since
at least 2008.

Questions - Is it only posts from the list? Are they in the “Inbox”, or do
they have their own mailbox? If in the “Inbox”, do other posts from other
people do the same thing?
Next time something doesn’t appear to delete, check the Trash. Is it
there? If you go back to the Inbox, is it gone now? You shouldn’t need to
quit the app.

Apple Mail is in love with Mailboxes - the Inbox, Sent, Junk, Trash all are
mailboxes and different mailboxes can be set up with different
characteristics. Example: the Trash mailbox, right click, and select
“Erase Deleted Items”. If the Trash deletions are more than one window
long, sometimes they don’t leave the window when you do this, but if you go
to any other window (Sent, Junk, Inbox) and back, they’re gone. This has
occurred at least since 2008.

I’m still running Sonoma, because I always give Apple a couple of months on
a new Mac OS. But I have to change to Sequoia soon, so I’ll see if mine
does this. As Ryan says - “Bug or feature?”
