Correction: I *did* ride those mountains, but only the old paved roads vaguely SE from the Gillette property/Fox ranch — Cold Canyon Road and so on, that, back then, on classless weekday mornings were entirely void of traffic; lovely hilly, winding roads (with very poor motor vehicle sight lines), 1973-1977. Not as often as liked, because I had to borrow bikes as I had to sell mine when returning Stateside.
I heard of but was never part of the Sunday morning roadie incursions in the area.
