Gee .... I must be getting old . My idea of a "beater bike" was always a Schwinn Varsity or Sears Bike .... the ones from the 70's that weighed like 45 pounds. The problem is .... these days even those are sought after ..... so yeah .... the idea of a beater bike is gone.
The bottom line is whatever you ride .... there's always someone around who may want to steal it.
