James is right; West Dry Creek is splendid. And on the return in the same area, think twice about whether the frontage road for Highway 101 is where you want to be.
After you cross the Golden Gate Bridge, you have yourself going up through San Rafael and over to Point Reyes on Sir Frances Drake. That's not terrible, if you like riding through suburbs, but riding Ridgecrest is spectacular. You could head up from Fairfax on Bolinas Road. Comptche Ukiah Road is pretty, but then you have that section from Ukiah to Healdsburg. Instead you could consider doing the obvious- riding from Mendocino to Jenner on the coast. It shouldn't be that busy at this time of year.
