I just did a Metric on my Saluki today. I'm under 150 lbs and have never felt the bike was a thudder, just that it was comfortable. Yes, slower than the Road Standard is, but not by much. Today's ride was mostly on coarse pavement and some dirt logging roads. The bike was great. I drank the Kool-Aid today, when for the first time after a couple of years of owning the bike, I DE-flated the tires down to 50 PSI. Wow, how nice! And not sluggish at all on these kinds of surfaces. Bike feel comes from a lot of places. Wheels, tires, handlebars/wraps, saddles. Not just frame tubing, although I certainly don't discount that.
