It's a difficult decision. My fendered Atlantis is a lot heavier and
less sprightly than the Roadeo. I'm not a weight weenie, but the
difference in total time would be one or two hours. That's
considerable. "Chance of rain" is just the ambigous weather report
that makes riding without fenders a possible choice, but possibly a
bad one. I may bring both bikes to the start and decide when I get
there.

I do want to ride with others of the same speed and hope I find them,
but fortunately for me, the Pacific Coast north of Santa Cruz counts
as home territory for me. Except the small section between Montara and
Half Moon Bay, I've ridden the area many times.
