It's a difficult decision. My fendered Atlantis is a lot heavier and less sprightly than the Roadeo. I'm not a weight weenie, but the difference in total time would be one or two hours. That's considerable. "Chance of rain" is just the ambigous weather report that makes riding without fenders a possible choice, but possibly a bad one. I do want to ride with others of the same speed and hope I find them, but fortunately for me, the Pacific Coast north of Santa Cruz counts as home territory for me.
