5 lbs means very little from my experience. So the one built as a commuter .. Same tires wheels geometry bars handlebar height?
Add 5 lbs in water bottle on go fast and doubt you'll notice much. But if all you're interested in is speed have fun. A 2 to 3 mph average speed difference for me is nothing. So what Rivendell did you build to 17ish pounds?
