I have a single TT 56, my buddy Paul a double TT 56. I can attest that
the bottle cage braze-ons were lowered to give equal clearance to the
bottle, but you do have to reach a bit lower. The difference in feel
between the frames is un-noticable to us because of differences in
tires and handlebars, which obscure any frame diffs we might be able
to feel.

I prefer the single TT, but the Sam is such a fine bike that a double
TT shouldn't be a deal breaker, unless you are very light and want a
very lively frame (but then you wouldn't want oversized tubing,
anyway; instead maybe look at a box dog bike or Boulder Bicycle or
Rawland rSogn if you are okay with low trail and no lugs?).
