Ditto on the Alfine chain tensioner. I used it in a past life on my 2x8 Fargo (with Alfine 8 speed hub and front derailleur)... Gosh, If I had only known about the Hammerschmidt!!!
BTW just the other day I rode a freeride bike with a Hammerschmidt crank... WOW, I've never felt anything shift so instantaneously...
