It really depends upon the thickness of the leather on the saddle, the "dryness" of the leather and how much time you want to spend on the project. If it is a rock-hard, but not dried out saddle, I'd probably just use the proofride or Obenauf. If the leather is showing open, dried pores, then a little, light oil might be a good first step. It's very tough to get the oil out if you overdo it, so my procedure on older saddles has been to ride them a bit first, then fine tune it with the treatments. If you have some knowledgeable shoe repair place, you might show it to them - explaining that you don't want it to soften too much so that it starts to hammock under your weight. I had an older B17 which only needed a touch of Proofride, while another saddle is so thick I think it would swallow a bottle of neatsfoot oil and not be impacted. - J -- Jim Edgar [email protected] Cyclofiend Bicycle Photo Galleries - http://www.cyclofiend.com Current Classics - Cross Bikes Singlespeed - Working Bikes Gallery updates now appear here - http://cyclofiend.blogspot.com "'You both ride your bike?'
