Thanks Jim, so far our research has been limited to the spread done in 
Adventure Cycling last year.  Is late Oct too late for for the trails in 
Northern Minn.?  One option would be to stop on the way to Ca., after the 
birth of our granddaughter.  I'm also scheduled for a conference in St Paul 
in early April next year.  But is that too early for bike touring?
