I rode mine this morning. Looks like my vote wasn't neeeeeded, but...it's a funny thing. Four years ago I was in Taiwan or Japan or something on election day, following the news on the 'puter, and I got happy at the end. A fellow told me he'd never buy from us again. Earlier this year he emailed me saying he filled up a shopping cart, but then remembered I was happy when Obama won, and so he emptied it. I don't believe he ever filled it up, but it's interesting that he felt that way and took the time to tell me.
Today I voted for women, the environment, the middle class, for stem cell research, for marriage equality, for fair pay, for EVERY class, for science. Does that put Rivendell at risk, my saying that? To anybody who---doesn't like the way the election went and doesn't like that I do, and might not support us because I'm here all thrilled, I wonder: Do you find out the political affiliation of every business owner before you patronize the biz? Ultimately, it will be good for both parties. I imagine the elephants will be less radical from now on. I imagine the donkeys will welcome their moving a hair to the left.
