Fenders in LA with me, too, at least on my commuter. The streets here are always filled with run-off from the lawn sprinklers of the rich and clueless, and who knows what else. I don't want that stuff splashing on my feet and legs. Every once in a while, it rains here, and when it does the streets flood almost instantly.
I grab my Quickbeam almost every day for my commute. I don't want to think about shifting when I'm riding to work. I just want to pedal. I like the reliability and the fact that I'm always in gear.
