I must be the ONLY poster on this list who does not like shellac on cloth bar tape. I do think it feels hard compared to tape alone. How could it not? After all, shellac is used, in one application, as a wood finish. I say, naked bar tape feels better. Who cares if it won't survive a nuclear holocaust! Bar tape is cheap and easy to install when it wears out. It's also easy enough to soap up and wah when it gets dirty (if that bothers you).
