During my research on V-brakes I found arm lengths all the way from 85 mm 
(maybe even 80?) up to 107 mm.  Of course not all brake posts are located 
in the same spot on the frame relative to the rim.  So you'll to do some 
tedious measurements of your bike and research to figure out exactly what 
will work.  With fat tires, fenders, racks, etc., it can become quite a 
puzzle.  Then you get to the cost issue.  There are perfectly serviceable 
$30 brakes and equally serviceable but wonderful looking $150 brakes.  

Brake levers also become an issue with V-brakes.  Most flat bar MTB style 
levers pull enough cable but for drop bars you need Tektro's long pull 
lever.  Brifters require a Travel Agent cable adapter if using longer arm 
Vs as you would need to clear fat tires with fenders.
