I use Albatross/Northroads on my Bridgestone RB-T city bike with Shimano Dura Ace Bar end shifters. I have no problem shifting quickly, and barely have to move my hand to do so. I can typically move my hand back an inch and do it with the palm of my hand - up or down. It's no problem.
