East Canyon is just west of Newhall in LA County. I've ridden that dirt road at least 50 times... a nice climb in oak trees. At the top there is an intersection that can take you to Mission Peak with great views of the San Fernando Valley. This land was acquired by the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy about 10 years ago.
