I'm fond of New Brighton Beach, probably because of its excellent proximity to Gayles. Is Little Basin too far? I've been curious about camping there. And I hear that while the road from Highway 236 to Little Basin is paved, there is a non-paved bikeable exit if you continue on; it takes you to Empire Grade. http://rayhosler.wordpress.com/2012/08/19/little-basin-and-beyond/ It's possible, I think, to camp guerrilla on Waddell Creek. I don't recommend it on Labor Day Weekend, though; too busy.
