When I ride to work (and carry my laptop...I'm a software developer and I
do oncall support aabout 1 week per month) I put my work laptop which is a
Lenovo T430 in a padded neoprene sleeve I got from MEC and carry it in a
backpack w lunch, work clothes, etc. My work commute is about 6K one way
and 9K or so back. If my commute was longer I'd do a rack and bag or
pannier thing

Something like

although mine just closes with velcro
