Winter riding attire can be quite a fashion statement. My preferred cool to cold weather bottoms are shorts with different weights of capilene long underwear layered underneath. It probably doesn't help my look that I also tend to wear my oldest and most tattered shorts in this ensemble. Regardless - it works great down to about 20, then I shift over to softshell.
