In using the regular ol' "cheap" straddle carriers, I've always found a nudge to the left or right works just fine and it stays in place , without the need for any thing to "lock" it into place, as the Tektro carriers do. My fav canti's are Original Deore BR-MC70, which have no tensioning at all, but using the "nudge" method they were always centered. It doesn't matter if the carrier is off center to the left or right a little.
