Bruce:

Rear racks are much easier to mount than fronts.  There's just a lot more 
open area back there.  IME (various cantis plus V-brakes) the only 
potential conflicts have been with brake cables and there is always some 
combination of connecting the horizontal struts to the seat stays that 
avoids interference.  The struts can mount to either the inside or outside 
of the hourglass and the aluminum struts can be bent if needed.
