As much as I used to love the idea, I know think aircraft are a bit
pointless. You have to aim it which would be harder that a tank, you
have to think about blades and if you make a blimp you have to stop it
floating away on the wind. To solve the problem of blades you could
try putting a metal ring around the outside of them but if something
was to come through the bottom  (assuming its a helicopter) it would
get caught in the blades still.

As for people making a film, you could film it once with just aircraft
then film it again from the same angle with tanks, and then
pyrotecnics (if you want) etc and then layer the pieces of footage up
on top of each other. I think I-movie on the mac can do it and a
friend has a piece of software he picked up for £40 that can do it.
