I have a support vehicle http://www.rctankcombat.com/support-vehicles/SV009/
tha is about the same size as your Daimler.

It runs on two 12V motors and is fast. I think your drill motors will
be fine. You can always over-volt them to 24V if you think you dont
have enough power.

Remember though: you will probably use it for transport and a trailer
will never have more than a CO2 bottle or a pile of paintballs, so I
dont think torque will be an issue.

Once I get over my current addiction to Warhammer Online, I want to
makea towed artillery piece to tow behind my HMMWV, but even then that
shouldnt be more than 10-15 lbs I think.
