Mike, I've got the suspension all hooked up here now, it's looking good.
I've got 1/4" spring steel rods that run the width of the hull. One end is welded to the swing-arm, and is bent to 90 degrees. The other end is anchored in a stud welded to the opposite side of the hull. (Bolt and lock-nut holding it firmly in place against a flat ground onto the steel rod.) I tested them to an individual pressure of 60 pounds with no problems encountered. So, with 14 wheels, at 60 pounds each, my current maximum test weight is, 840 pounds. WOWZERS! Anyhow, I've got 110 pounds in the frame/suspension/wheels, and on top of that, I added my own weight, which is another 220 pounds. The suspension has no problem with 330 pounds of weight, and the torsion bars spring well. VERY pleased with the way things are looking. Next step will be to get the tracks finished up (I'm about 2/3 done one of 'em) and get the drive system mocked in place. I might add some shell plywood to the hull, just to make things look like they're progressing. Brad On Dec 17, 12:15 am, "Mike Måne" <[email protected]> wrote: > Nice frame. It looks very strong.
