Ha similar thing happend to me the other day... I just started work on a new tank (SU-122), so I was cutting up the steel for the chassis with my trusty hacksaw. 3 hrs later all the steel was cut, I was 20lbs lighter, all was good. I welded it all up looked alright, but then when I went to test fit the axles they were not fitting anywhere close to where they were sposed too... Try again
So I started cutting all the pieces again, on the first cut snapped my hacksaw blade, so I ran down to the Tool shop to get a new one, ended up coming home with a top of the line drop saw... So it went from $5 to $400 in a few minutes but I felt much better when I had all the pieces cut and assembled properly. The right tool really makes life easy.
