Callum, depends on your definition on near.  I'm in Chelmsford, Essex. 
I don't class Cambridgeshire as too far.  Obviously, the situation may 
well be different for you, however, I'm just saying.

As for what you build, as long as it looks VAGUELY like what the army 
used or uses, I'm not going to complain.  We've had all sorts of 
variations on designs to make them easier to build.  Heck, my Challenger 
looks complete rubbish compared to the ACTUAL thing.  But it's vaguely 
right (and a BIT of a monster), so it's OK.

As for when you start building, set aside half an hour, enough ply or 
MDF or whatever you plan to use to get started (doesn't need a lot to 
get started), and just start to build a bit.  Don't think about the 
whole thing.  Just think about getting a little bit done here, and a 
little more done there, and soon you'll find you can put bits together, 
and you end up with a tank or SV or whatever you build.

You don't need to buy everything at once, mine has been a case of buying 
stuff as and when I need it.
