Welcome ! Here's a good description of a servo:
http://www.societyofrobots.com/actuators_servos.shtml There are others on the web. In my opinion, the least expensive asset to begin with is an artillery piece. There's no drive system to worry about, you get a good introduction into paintball marker mounting and firing, and you can get by with a wired remote control. Plus, artillery is treated very favorably under the 'official' R/C Tank Combat rules. - Doug -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Daniel S Sent: Thursday, February 12, 2009 11:47 AM To: R/C Tank Combat Subject: [TANKS] Newbie :D Hi Everyone I stumbled across this site a while ago and I have now made up my mind to actually have a go at making an R/C Tank. Thing is, I have absolutely no idea how to start. I think perhaps I'll plan absolutely everything to start with so I know exactly what I am doing. But I have no idea how to do half the electronics and stuff. What exactly is a servo for example? :) Also, simple question, whats the cheapest thing to make it all out of? Oh and the R/C Controller, what do most people use to actually make it wireless??? I also wanted to put a small camera on it that feeds back to a small screen in the controller, any one done this and how would I go about doing this? As you can see, I really don't know where to start - I can do the basics but that is all!!!! Should I start with the electronics or the main chassis? By the way, I am only 14, so I can't go spending too much money. Thanks!!!!!!! --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You are currently subscribed to the "R/C Tank Combat" group.
