 That's exactly what I had in mind. :-) Thanks for the tip. At least
now I know I wasn't completely out to lunch with the idea. I just have
to measure it out and see if I can modify my wheels without having to
rebuild my tracks.

 I'm using #35 chain ( I had lots of it) with the tracks bolted to it

 and friction drive against the track with drive wheels wrapped in
rubber. The tracks are 3/4 x 1/2 oak salvaged from a very, very, old
swather. It was a lot of work to make these tracks but they should*
stand up. That and I have lots of oak strips. It has been
affectionately dubbed FLITS or Fred's Labour Intensive Track System by
my better half.
