A landmark vehicle that T005! First TTS, first EVW drive train, first electronic marker, first tank that could spin in tall grass! ;-)
If you're going to build from my plans do yourself a favor and do not build the two internal bulkheads as shown in the plans and my build pics. They get in the way of a decent battery installation. On the turret, the reasoning behind the complicated design was to allow the maximum marker elevation allowed by the rules (10 degrees) hence the open area below the turret for the gun to depress into (in fact, the design could do a 12 degree elevation). The turret was held in place by those three flanged rollers which worked OK but was prone to slippage when paint got on them. A lazy susan or my design used in the Cromwell is a better way to go. Regarding the tracks, a TTS is not rocket science (especially the friction drive version). Sure there's a bunch of repetition and some decent shop tools make things easier but it is the lightest weight and best performing track design bar-none! All in all, I'm very proud with the way T005 turned out. It looks cool and performed light years ahead of the contemporary designs of the time (the T005 would still be very competitive with some minor mods).
