I think the question is more or less about what different power plants you can use for a model RC tank. If that is the case then sure, you CAN use an internal combustion engine to power your tank. You just cant use it to battle with the rest of the tanks on this site. I am building my tank for the pure fun of it and not to do paintball battles. Its powered by a 2.4hp engine and uses a differential braking steering system.
