hi,

i recently purchased one of these for a similar project (http://www.pololu.com/catalog/product/1390) but this large servo contains one of these (http://www.pololu.com/catalog/product/1392) which if making your own servo has all you need. this controller takes rc input and has feedback capabilities that allows you to make a large servo all you need to conect are power, rc, motor and a feedback pot connected to the output of the motor. the price of the controler is not much more than a simple hbridge controller.

I found a description (I think through a post in this forum, but am
not able to retrieve the post) that explains hacking the S3003 servo.

OK, found the post:

Still can't work it out ... boy this electronics thing is not my cup
of tea.
