Hello everyone, I just signed up for this group but have been reading it for months now.
I'm keeping it small and building a (Sd.Kfz. 250/8) Neu with 5cm Pak 38. It will have 1/8 welded aluminum hull, cast aluminum tracks and running gear (with resin or rubber tires cast on to the rims), and torsion bar supension. Hopefully I'll be able to scratch built a paintball gun with simulated barrel recoil. The one thing I'm having trouble with is the track steering. I have a 1/4 scale servo that will turn the front wheels, but at a particular point I want the tracks to start skid steering. I want to run the tracks off one 18v dewalt drill motor. I'm thinking of using a small clutch on each side of the drive to release one side but still drive the other. Or I could use one differential in the middle and a brake for each side. I'm leaning more towards the duel cluch system. Has anyone here tried buliding a halftrack with this type of steering system? Let me know what you think either way! -- You are currently subscribed to the "R/C Tank Combat" group.
