Music wire, spring wire and spring steel. The real challenge is finding it in
ΒΌ" and larger diameter that is straight and not in a coil.

Subject: [TANKS] Torsion bar - what do you call the metal?

I was at the metal shop today and checked to see what they had in stock (or
even if they carried it or could get it). the man told me it's called "cold,
rolled steel rod". he said they call it music wire from about 3/16" and smaller.

so is this cold, rolled steel rod the stuff i want for my torsion bars? he said
it's about 25 cents a foot

this stuff really isn't nice and smooth around is it?

well, i went to Home Depot to check on bushings, and they don't carry any.
didn't have time to check out Lowe's so i'm just going to hit the hardware
store down, around the road later.
