man this is going to be slow....... i went back to the hardware store today (just to see if they were open), and went to the far wall where they have all of them plastic containers of parts nothing .........., not even similar parts in other sizes......... so the one lady asks what am i looking for, ends up calling her brother on the phone as she had no idea what i was talking about, but he did ......... tray one, way too big................. tray two, 1/4" dia x 3/4" long i put my metal rod up to it and ........... doesn't fit. the rod isn't 100% round and would need more sanding to work. well at least i know they have some there when i get to the next step........ so now i go to the drill area and grab a dremel bit, the one that looks like it'll work in a milling machine (and i know dam right well, i bout one of these this past year - never used it, but don't see it), so i grab it (it's the last one there anyway). as i'm walking back up to the counter, she has another tray asking if i'd be interested in looking at some nylon parts. i was about to say no, but i figure, why not ....... there in the box was 1/4 x 3/4 with a flanged end on it ....... and it fits! so i bought 2 as i plan on getting a length of the rod and a piece of 1/4 x 1" aluminum for the arm and put together a assembly and test it out on one of the benches (in case 1/4" rod it too heavy, i can go to 3/16 - i may just grab the 3/16 while i'm there getting some 1/4") and test them both out - don't want a stiff ride. and, and they even had gray Rustoleum sandable primer! So I guess i did okay so far today (other than i left my metal rod behind ...... i just went back for it and they had it waiting for me) Chris, _Odyssey Slipways_ (http://hometown.aol.com/odysseyslipways/index.html)
