do as some  have done and make your turret electrically self-contained with

you might even think about a headphone line as it's a bit heavier for  any 
needed current that a phone line or keyboard line to carry (they still make  
them don't they??).
 
and don't cut off the plugs they come with, this way if they do get twisted 
 up a bit during a battle, you could simply unplug them, un twist them and  
re-plug them again
