not sure how i missed them (page might have stuck) in the BIG tiger book i
have here, but i did find nice drawings of the Tiger's turret hatches (just
wish they had true sizes marked on them....), so i put the book on the
scanner and started scanning in some of the wanted images.

i know i wanted to put on a Winter paint scheme, but wanted to see what
version of the Tiger it was as i at least wanted to get the hatches on top
right along with any other noticeable details. i have 2 pictures so far (i
know i saw 2 more, just can't remember where now) as see i could just deck
this tank out, but don't want to as i'm sure some stuff may get blown off by
others (someday soon if all goes well ........ i hope).

i thought i'd start with the rectangular hatch as that seemed to look
fairly easy. so i first went with a top view of the turret scale it to print
out to 1:14th scale (as 1:7th won't fit onto a piece of 8.5 x 11" paper) then
doubled the measurements from it. looks pretty good so far ......

then i measured the outside edge of the hatch i was interested in........
bring up the drawing of the hatch on the computer and start printing it
until i get it to scale ........ what's wrong? it's off, it's longer than it
is
wide (or was it the other way around, i don't recall now) ... maybe i
measured something wrong ....... check again, eh, might be off a hair here
....
nope, doesn't bring it close enough, so i made it between the measurements
and figured good enough and printed it out to start on it tonight.

well, i start sizing up some pieces of plexi glass and plastic sheeting and
kept looking at the hatch on the print out and decided, why not make it
open and close and maybe use it to load the paint balls, so while i am
rechecking on the size and if this is the right hatch, i have emails Ralph to
see
if's master it for me (and maybe some of the other hatches)

now to recheck scales and sizes .......
