Having built many Racing MotorCycles many years ago, I found that You need to Grind/File the peened section of the Pin before it will press through the Hole.

chain brakers, what good are they if you can't even break a 25 pitch chain with them (bought from SurplusCenter)? i got me connecting links the other day and just snuck off to the garage to try to put together a chain for the one motor unit. opened up the jaws, set the chain in place, closed the jaws, and began to turn the handle in, making sure the point was on the pin, cranked it and cranked it and cranked some more, but didn't get anywhere, thought if i cranked any more, i'd break the point and get it in the eye or something.

so what has anyone else done with their 25 pitch chain to separate them? i know i don't have small files to hit just one of the pins to try to file the tops/heads off of them
