I looked up the Priest SPG, the Merkava, and the M1A1 Abrams. Priest was the only one that had issues, mostly due to the way the inside is set up--it needs a few sectional views to do properly. I've recently acquired a large amount of cardboard, my plan is to build a 1:8 mockup of the Abrams, since it seems to be the easiest. The mockup let me look at internal volume and layout and such, and will eventually be pulled apart to use for laying out the sheet metal for the actual tank.
The drawings are detailed enough for even the small versions to expand well, you really just need a view the size of an 8x11" paper to print out--look up the main dimensions on wiki and you can do a bit of math to get your conversion factor. I do plan to log in to get the larger versions.
