Recently I dusted off the T34 and decided to install new motors. The old motor set was one that I acquired from an powered wheelchair. While the motors seem capable of moving my 150 pound beast there was no room in the tank to adjust chains. Or much anything else for that matter.
I purchased two electric scooter motors, NON geared but 300 watts, 15-20 amps running and came with mounting brackets for 25 bucks a pop. Now anyone that knows me will attest i don't like to spend much. Smile My last ESC was a unit built by Joe Sommers. At the time it was the cheapest priced unit I could find. After motor installation I noted my old ESC had burned out another SCR and relay. I purchased a Sabertooth 2x25 unit from Dimension Engineering. Just in the past day I have hooked it up and tested it for a few minutes on a flat concrete floor. So far it has worked pretty well. The unit is suppose to shut itself down before any damage can occur before over current conditions take out the unit. For 125 dollars for a 2 channel unit that allows for tank skid steer control I think I have found the unit for me. -- You are currently subscribed to the "R/C Tank Combat" group.
