Gluing I wouldn't think is too bad, but finding the right material is
a bigger deal.  I was thinking for when I'm ready to mess with pads to
get vinyl floor tiles, have someone laser or router cut the pads, and
then just glue them on.  Keep a small bag full to glue on if you loose
one.
