It started as a 1/6 scale link for my Chieftain, after making a much closer scale link it turned out to be too weak, the scale pin and hinge rings weren’t up to use with a heavy tank like mine, as I wanted the links to be more than capable of supporting the whole tank on one link, (driving over a sharp step). It took me three designs and many hours, beefing up the design up a little each time to reach a compromise between acceptable strength and scale look, this is the result. This combination of pin size and hinge ring thickness as proved capable of supporting a 2 Sq mm point load of 200Kg without deforming in my testing.
