Hi Andy! Good to hear from you. I live in Surrey (UK) so not a million
miles from you. We are planning some battles later this year so you
could come along.

I've been involved in the English Civil War Society for many years and
like you have thought of doing public displays for recruitment etc
purposes, and also cos it's fun. We have some paintball netting which
reduces the risk to public from "potentially fatal" to "sticky", and
if we had enough of that to cordon off a suitable corner of a field
then that would suffice. We'd also need public liability insurance.

A good first step would be a non-firing demo at say Salute or a
similar wargames event. We'd have to think about floor surfaces if
indoors but otherwise no insurance etc risks.

Before we can go public in this way though, the first thing we need is
a somewhat elusive quality: reliability. Our battles do tend to start
with the ritual Cursing of the Electronics and end when the last-but-
one tank breaks down. If we can get a a stage where most kit works
most of the time then I'd be very much up for that.
