I would hold off on joining the ends until the track has around 5 treads left
to put on.  Although we think we know how many it should have, sometimes
construction variances (or a mathmatical error) will change the actual length
the tank needs.  A test fitting with most of the treads on is the way to go
before joining.

As an example, SV05's tracks were joined without a test fitting on the tank.
I relied on the math to be right.  It was somewhat right, but it turned out
that the tracks really needed to be one tread shorter for tensioning purposes.
The tracks run a little loose and there is no more adjustment to take up the
slack.

T081's tracks were not joined until most of the track was already completed
and test fit on the tank.  After marking the actual length and joining the
track, it came out the perfect length and didn't run out of tensionor
adjustment.

Subject: [TANKS] Track question

Before I start I will update on the progress. I have completed 38" of nearly 7
ft of track. Other than the fact that I might be a little short on rubber by
inches( for track pads) everything is going well. Would it be advisable to join
the two ends of the track together already. And I would just finish out the
remaining track pads while its joined? Or could this cause problems?
