Any projects going on or in the planning stages out there? Revamps of existing assets? Tank tweaking? To get the conversation started ... I've begun a new project this week. It is a small tankette. The goal is a small, easy to carry, low cost yet semi competitive tank. I am tracking the hours and cost spent putting into making it in hopes of better quantifying the effort/cost to build a tank. Admittedly, this is a small project. Anything larger would cost more of course. As of last night the tankette has 5 hours worth of work to include planning, part patterns, cutting wood and assembling the lower hull, and partially completing the upper hull. Honestly, I'm amazed how much has been accomplished so far. Costs so far is around $192.81 to include wood, glue, casters, chains, sprockets, and a new .50 cal marker. The marker itself was $119. Some items such as the radio system and motors/escs are already on hand from previous projects. The costs of on-hand items will be included in the dollar figure eventually. There is still some decisions to be made. I'm not sure if I wish to pursue a suspension system or simply solid mount the road wheels. The tank is small enough and light enough that a working suspension may be unneeded. Going with no suspension would save significant time and really simplify the tank. Anyone have some opinions on suspension vs no suspension? Mike
